What Does a Chamber of Commerce Do?
What Is a Chamber of Commerce, Really?
We get this question more often than you’d think — and we get it! Chambers of Commerce are often misunderstood. So let’s clear a few things up:
We’re not a government agency.
We’re an independent, member-supported nonprofit that exists to support and promote local businesses — large and small. We don’t get funding from the town.
Our programs, events, and services are made possible by member dues, sponsorships, and community support. We’re not political.
We advocate for business in ways that are inclusive, collaborative, and community-centered. We’re not affiliated with any political party — and we’re not part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (yes, it’s confusing!).We’re local. We’re yours.
Everything we do — from sidewalk sales to business mixers, ribbon cuttings to resource guides — is about making Greenwich a better place to live, work, and thrive.
